Marrakech

Well, I will not be posting for a couple of weeks as im off on my jollies to Marrakech, Morroco on Monday. I'm extremely excited for this little adventure!

I start off by going to Scotland, UK. Myself and my Partner are going back to Edinburgh and Glasgow to see his Family and then we have a Kings Of Leon gig, which is going to be fabulous! Then we jet off from Manchester to Marrakech on the monday morning. We will be staying there for 7 days and then will return to Manchester for a day or two and then finally back home to Cardiff, Wales around Tuesday/Wednesday the following week.

Im very excited, and cannot wait to tell the stories, upload the pictures and my findings.

Stay Tuned...

On Trend - Birds

Some people have a complex about having birds in the house, It's supposed to be bad luck. Due to this superstition some people won't keep a bird in the house. There are also people whose superstition runs so strong that they can't even have pictures of our feathered friends anywhere in the home even if it was on wallpaper...

But I think birds add a certain charm and character to a room, they have a quirky presence and can really set a mood. Bird prints can be so versatile that they can be used almost anywhere in the home.

I have come across some fantastic prints and thought that I should share them with you, especially as Birds seem to be on trend right now....

'Owls of the British Isles'

'Briar Owl, Silver'

These wonderful prints are by Abigail Edwards, they are from her very first collection of hand drawn wallpapers, costing at £68 per roll, they are a beautiful addition to make you room a bit more quirky. You can check out her wesite here.

If you like these wallpapers but think that there isn't much colour going on, then add in some small textile prints such as this one,
'Bird Garden' By Mark Hearld, £44 p/m, you can purchase this here.
'Song Birds' in Buttercup, Clay and Charcoal, by Vanessa Arbuthnott. Purchase this here.

Another wallpaper which I just love is from Romo, It's called Mirabel and can be found here.

I am in love with pretty much all of Villa Nova's collections right now, they are so fresh and sophistocated they suit any interior.

Check them all out here, I promise you it's worth it!

Now you're probably wondering why exactly I've put these images on here when I'm writing about birds, but the best way to accessorize with a bird wallpaper or print is to compliment them with florals and leaf patterns, Keep them quite simple though as it can look too overwhelming otherwise. Failing that if you're not so keen on florals keep it plain. Plain colours can speak volumes and can take the focus to the bird prints. Also don't be afraid to add texture!!

If your not brave enough to re-decorate a whole wall with birds you can always add some smaller prints to be hung up on the wall, don't forget my new birdcage print, it can add that little bit of quirkiness to any room.

If you have any pictures of your home decorated in with these styles then please feel free to email me them and I shall feature you in my blog! I'd love to see them.

Stay tuned...

New Prints

I haven't really put much of my work on my blog so I thought I should maybe post a more recent design. I'm making these into prints to sell in my big cartel shop soon. The series isn't complete yet but here's a small taster of the collection, and when it is complete I shall post some more up.

If you are interested in purchasing this then feel free to get in touch, or you can always wait untill the collection is up in my shop, so keep checking it.

Please Note, design is Copyrighted to Leanne Carpentier. Please do not copy!

Ikea

I was looking on the Ikea website earlier today and came across these adorable cuddlies. I thought that these soft toys were such a good way to get children into eating and learning about their fruit and vegs.
All 'Torva' from Ikea costing £6.99 each. I thought these were brilliant. I think I might buy some for a friend of mine's baby. I also came across this book which I thought would go so well with these toys.
Also from Ikea, £3.99.
These items are such a fun way to introduce young children into eating healthy! As it is known that the healthy eating habits that children pick up when they are young will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle when they are adults.

Time for a New Kitchen (May 2011)

Hey guys,
It's not often that we get a new kitchen in our house so as it was a momentous occasion I thought I'd put up some pictures of it! All in all it only took 5 days to complete, which was good as living without a kitchen and making tea and food in the living room was slightly horrendous!

Day 1

Everything was gutted and taken out of the room, and the flooring was laid.

Day 2

Then things started going back in!

Day 3

(Please excuse the Mop, the Kitchen needed a real good clean as the dust from everything was everywhere)

Day 4

Day 5

Look, There's a wine cooler!!
This isn't the finished article as it still needs painting, (which will be a light Grey colour) the ceiling still needs to be done too but we're waiting until after our holidays!! So stay tuned for more pictures later on!!

I think it's looking pretty good so far!
